The Good Food Cardiff Autumn Festival has returned for its sixth year, taking place throughout September and October. 

Every year since 2020, Cardiff has celebrated the joy of growing, cooking and sharing good food through the Good Food Cardiff Autumn Festival. This year also celebrates Cardiff’s achievement of the Gold Sustainable Food Places award – only the fourth place in the UK to attain the prestigious title.

The festival kicked off at the Good Food Cardiff Zone at the Amgueddfa Cymru Food Festival in St Fagans, which welcomed over 20,000 people. 

A programme of free activities are now running in neighbourhoods across the city throughout September and October. The Festival culminates with Food Cardiff’s event Beyond Gold: The Future of Food in Cardiff on 23 October. You can register to attend here.

Over the five previous festivals, Food Cardiff member organisations and schools have been involved, hosting over 130 events and welcoming over 9,000 attendees. Almost 2,500 meals have been shared and over 5,000 plants and seed kits have been distributed. 

This year Food Cardiff, which co-ordinates the festival, distributed £7,500 in small grants to support community groups, schools and third-sector organisations to run activities.

Alhusna Community Trust Group

Urban Crofters

• Event Title: Autumn Bounty Celebration

• Description: Celebrate with your local community in Shelley Gardens in Roath. Free activities including food demonstrations, treasure hunts and painting with blackberries. Bring your broken household items and we will do our best to repair them for you. Find new friends and share good food together. It is going to be FUN!

Igbo Union of Wales CIC

• Event Title: Tastes of Africa: Celebrating Seasonal Food and Culture

• Description: Come and experience the heart and soul of Africa at Tastes of Africa event which is a joyful celebration of community, culture, and flavour hosted by Igbo Union of Wales CIC. Share a lovingly prepared meal made from fresh, seasonal ingredients while enjoying vibrant cultural dances, traditional attire, and warm conversations. Breathe Creative CIC

• Event Title: Common Ground Community Autumn Festival

• Description: Join us for the Common Ground Community Autumn Festival.This uplifting afternoon will feature harvesting, hands-on gardening, live music, creative wellbeing workshops, and a shared plant-based meal. Led by Breathe Creative CIC, this inclusive event brings together allotment holders and local community groups to celebrate connection, sustainability, and the joy of growing and sharing good food.

Coed Treganna

• Event Title: Apple juice and healthy apple cider vinegar celebration of autumn day
• Date: 20.09.25
• Description: Come along to coed Treganna at Sanatorium park to help press and taste locally grown apples into juice. Bring along your own fruit and juice containers. Learn how to make your own healthy gut fermented apple cider vinegar from materials you’d previously composted.

Grow Cardiff

• Event Title: Grow Cardiff 10 Year Anniversary Harvest Festival
• Date: 25.09.25
• Description: You are invited to a Harvest Festival of special magnificence! Come and celebrate ten years of community growing with local charity Grow Cardiff at the Dusty Forge Ely. Delicious food from the garden, stories of growing and hope, music and a special guest speaker await.
