Cardiff was recently named a Gold Sustainable Food city – only the fourth place in the UK to secure this prestigious title. It is now calling on residents to help shape the next phase of its ongoing efforts to enhance food security and sustainability across the city.
A new public survey has been launched to gather vital insights on local food habits, preferences, and challenges, with the goal of creating a healthier, more sustainable, thriving, empowering, and connected food landscape for all.
The survey covers a range of key areas, including:
- Where people shop for food
- Confidence in cooking, budgeting, and healthy eating
- Priorities when buying food
- Healthy eating habits
- Awareness of the Good Food Movement in Cardiff
- Participation in food-related activities
Pearl Costello, Food Cardiff Coordinator, said:
“Cardiff has shown incredible commitment to sustainable food, and we’re immensely proud of achieving Gold Sustainable Food Place status.
“But to truly evolve our food system, we need the voices of the people who live, work, and eat here. This survey is a crucial step in understanding the diverse needs and perspectives of our community, ensuring our future food strategies are truly reflective of Cardiff’s residents. We urge everyone to take a few minutes to share their views and help us build an even greener, healthier food future.”
The short survey is open to all Cardiff residents and can be completed online here: City Wide Food Strategy 2025
