Welsh comedians, including BBC Radio 5 Live’s Elis James, 2019 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner, Jordan Brookes and BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack presenter, Kiri Pritchard-McLean have joined forces to support local food businesses and raise money for charity with a virtual comedy gig.
|Belly Laughs At Home – Cardiff!
Weʼre supporting four amazing local charities: FareShare South Wales, Llamau, Chapter Arts Centre and Dragon’s Heart Hospital.
With the lockdown continuing, full time comedians are losing months of work but many are now coming together for a one off virtual gig which they hope will raise smiles as well as money for FareShare South Wales, Llamau, Chapter Arts Centre and Dragon’s Heart Hospital.
Every year, Mark Olver organises hundreds of gigs in his home city of Bristol to raise money for local charities, which he has moved online during the pandemic, and he was keen to organise a Cardiff equivalent.
“We do stuff where food, comedy and doing good stuff for others meets. We’re known most for our January gigs but the world’s gone a little bit crazy right now and I think Belly Laughs At Home could be the antidote to that – for a couple of hours anyway. I’m always blown away by people’s generosity at these events and am sure we can raise some money for these great causes whilst having a bit of a laugh at the same time”.
It wouldn’t be a Belly Laughs gig without a good meal so they’re also encouraging everyone to join us with a takeaway from your favourite Cardiff independent. You can get some inspiration from our Accessing Food page (scroll to the bottom for local food deliveries). Don’t forget to share your own favourites using #GoodFoodCardiff.
The gig will take place on the 15th of May at 7:30pm sharp!
