Seed Saving and Unusual Edibles

When: Wednesday July 15th, 6:30pm – 9pm
Where: The Abacus, St Davids House, Wood Street,Cardiff, CF10 1ER

Growing your own fruit and vegetables can be a far more interesting journey than you ever thought possible – and your garden can become a cornucopia of food while still looking wonderful.

In this double workshop, tutor Eirlys Rhiannon of Eating Our Gardens will introduce you to a whole host of unusual edibles. Skip the veg favoured by the supermarkets, and venture instead into the world of fresh flavours and perennial garden delights. You will also learn how to plan for seed saving, discover what to save and how to clean and store your seeds.

Seeds are amazing packages of potential, and learning how to harvest and save them ourselves can give a whole new dimension to our relationship with plants. Eirlys will touch on some background botany, marvel at different types of seed, garner tips on storage and germination – and, most importantly, you’ll save some seed.
