Food Cardiff wins big at the Cost Sector Catering Awards

Food Cardiff has triumphed at the Cost Sector Catering Awards, where it was awarded the PS100 Health and Nutrition Award for its School Holiday Enrichment Programme.

The event in London, held on 31 March, celebrated best practice in the catering industry; it is yet another milestone for our innovative programme, which has gained praise for its school holiday provision, ensuring that children are educated and fed well outside of term times.

Carl Nichols, Head of WRAP Cymru and Chair of Food Cardiff says: “This is fantastic news for Cardiff. The award justly recognises the power of team work in developing an effective and much-needed programme to support families over the school holidays. Congratulations to all those involved in developing the Food and Fun model and the huge team of people who were involved in delivering the vision last year and in the year to come.”

School holiday provision remains a controversial subject; this week, the Church in Wales has entered  the debate on “holiday hunger”.
